Eight Weeks of Financial Turmoil

Forgive us if we’re late to the party, but we’ve just come across Eight Weeks of Financial Turmoil, a useful timeline of the unfolding global financial crisis courtesy of The New York Times.

The interactive feature includes video of announcements by government officials, video and audio commentary from NYT reporters and analysts in the U.S. and abroad, and links to daily financial reporting starting from September 7, 2008 when the U.S. Treasury announced it was taking mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into conservatorship.

The timeline won’t solve any problems for you but it provides a set of markers on what political and financial leaders were saying and doing as the scale of the current crisis emerged and spread around the globe.
