What Successful Business Leaders Have In Common

An interesting finding by The Conference Board Executive Challenge 2004:

CEOs of more successful companies (where more and less successful are measured by average return on assets) are more than twice as likely than those of less successful companies to say availability of top talent is “of greatest concern” to them.

  • Would you tie your return on assets to the availability of top talent? Why or why not?
  • How would you compare your talent portfolio to that of your competitors?
  • Who’s chasing who (you or your competition)? What does that suggest to you about talent?
