Fox takes aim at evangelical Christians

The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that Fox Filmed Entertainment is launching a new arm of their operation, FoxFaith, which will produce films aimed at evangelical Christian audiences.

From a marketing standpoint, Fox may have seen the light, following box-office successes like The Passion of the Christ and The Chronicles of Narnia. Good for them. They are tapping into hordes of loyal Christians who will buy anything that looks Christian.

But where does this put followers of Christ in relation to the rest of the world?

Remember what we were taught:

The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough. (Matthew 13:33, New International Version)

Sometimes it seems like we are less like yeast in dough and more like oil in water.

What are we advancing? Is it the Kingdom of the Christian Culture, where we have our own Christianized version of everything? Or is it the Kingdom of Heaven, which is thrown into the mix and mashed up with it all?
