What’s On Your Mind?

A Request to the InsideWork Tribe

It’s been about 9 months since we launched this current version of InsideWork. And as we work to make InsideWork more relevant, meaningful, and useful in the next year, we wanted to ask, "What do you think?" Over the next few days, we’d like to pose some questions. Today’s question is:

What issues and challenges that you face would you like to see addressed here?

Please take a moment to let us know by leaving a comment. Any and all ideas, suggestions, and feedback are appreciated.

We enjoy being on this journey with you.

I’d like to see you address the issue of our calling. I’d like your insights on handling the tension between working to support family, etc. and doing "God’s work". How do talents, amibition, purpose, calling, responsibility to support myself and family, glorifying God, etc. all look in an integrated manner? Is integration possible?

  • Help I’m Lost

I would like to second Breadcrust’s request for insights on the tension between family and "God’s work". I grew up with a dad who was always away "doing God’s work". As a kid, I just figured it was normal that my dad was gone a lot. In college, I realized that maybe I developed a bunch of insecurities from having my parents gone all the time and started to resent it. Now, having learned more of the extent and impact of my dad’s work, I wonder if it was just that he had to "leave his wife/children/house" for the sake of the kingdom, a concept that I find myself having to wrestle with more now.
