Philippians 3: 4-9
New International Version

If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless. But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ – the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.

Goals in Conflict in The Judeo-Christian Vision and the Modern Corporation (p 222), Notre Dame, 1982

The Christian profile of virtuous man or woman has little in common with the dominant image of the successful corporate executive as one who is “on top of things” and confidently issues orders which galvanize a worldwide array of actors into efficient action. Consequently, one needs to be skeptical of heady optimistic claims that career professionals can be easily reconciled with the cultivation of genuine Christian values.

.. thats hard, ….I think Paul meant that we avoid being seduced by the allure of either positions and previleges even when we have them because our ultimate worth and previlege arises from the rightness of our reltionship with Christ,….so whereas we might be careerists, admins like Daniel, Liberators like Moses or conquerors like Joshua, ….we ought to Remember that those substantive positions, the previleges and the power that comes with them are tied to higher purposes, ….Gods glory, Gods purposes at the times, moments and places where we find ourselves…

..not evidence of personal Success or self aggrendisement!…as much as doing this brings fulfillment, …the bottom line is not, ….Loook at me, here I AM! ..but , …Thank God I am here, God , what would you have me do, here and now with what you have given me!
